For the meatballs
350 g chicken meat removed
½ onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic pressed
3 tbsp fresh coriander finely chopped (alternatively parsley)
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp turmeric
1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the sauce
400 g chopped tomatoes
150 ml whipped cream
Dice 1 onion
2 cm ginger freshly pressed
1 tsp turmeric
½ tsp garam masala alternatively curry powder
½ tsp coriander
½ tsp chilli powder
1 tsp honey
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

Prepare the meatballs:

Place the chilled chicken in a food processor or chopper and process until smooth.

Finely dice the onion, press the garlic cloves and chop the fresh coriander (parsley).

Place the meat mixture, diced onion, garlic, coriander and spices (cinnamon and turmeric) in a bowl and mix until evenly combined.

Form small balls (diameter 2-3 cm) and fry briefly in a hot pan with a little oil.

Put the fried balls to one side.

Prepare the curry:
Cut the onion into cubes. Clean the ginger and press or finely grate it.

Fry the onion and ginger together with the spices (turmeric, garam masala, coriander, chilli powder) in a wok or large pan with a little oil.

When the onion is slightly translucent, add the chopped tomatoes and stir.

Add the whipped cream, stir and add the meatballs to the curry.

Turn the heat down to medium and cover the wok (pan) with a lid.

Turn the meatballs now and then and let them simmer in the curry for about 5 to 7 minutes.

To make sure the meatballs are cooked through, you can take one meatball aside and cut it before serving.

Stir the honey into the curry just before serving.

Put the kofta curry in a bowl or deep plate, garnish with fresh coriander (parsley) and serve with naan or rice.
