Basil Oil Recipe

Basil oil recipe, a nice idea for gifts from the kitchen. Do you know this? You are spontaneously invited to a birthday party or a meeting with friends and want to bring something, but you have absolutely no time to get anything. But you still have the basil oil and a small bottle to fill – the perfect gift.

I always have some homemade basil oil in the kitchen because I like to use it myself – e.g. in salads, for sautéing or for tomato mozzarella. The oil is always good to use and homemade products from the kitchen always go down well.

What can you use basil oil for?

Basil oil is a flavorful oil that is made by infusing olive oil with fresh basil leaves. It can be used in a variety of dishes and can add a bright, fresh flavor to many different types of cuisine. Some ideas for using basil oil include:

  • Drizzling it over roasted or grilled vegetables
  • Adding a few drops to soups or stews to give them an extra burst of flavor
  • Using it as a marinade for chicken, fish, or meat
  • Mixing it with vinegar to make a simple salad dressing
  • Tossing it with pasta or adding it to a homemade pesto sauce
  • Using it as a dipping sauce for bread or crusty rolls

Basil oil can also be used as a finishing oil, which means that it is added to a dish just before serving to add a final touch of flavor. It can be drizzled over grilled meats, seafood, or vegetables, or it can be used to add flavor to sandwiches, wraps, or other types of sandwiches. Basil oil can also be used to add flavor to mayonnaise or other types of spreads.

How long will fresh basil last in olive oil?

Fresh basil will generally last longer if it is preserved in olive oil, but it is important to take proper precautions to prevent the growth of bacteria. Here are a few tips for preserving basil in olive oil:

  • Wash the basil thoroughly and pat it dry with a paper towel to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Place the basil in a clean, dry jar with a tight-fitting lid.
  • Pour olive oil over the basil, making sure to cover all of the leaves completely.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the jar, which can help to preserve the basil and improve the flavor.
  • Close the jar tightly and store it in the refrigerator.

When stored in the refrigerator, basil preserved in olive oil should last for about 2-3 weeks. However, it is important to check the basil regularly and discard it if it starts to turn brown or develop an off smell. It is also a good idea to use a clean spoon or utensil when scooping out the basil to help prevent the introduction of bacteria into the jar.
